APULIA SEA TURTLE PROJECT

Hello Italy. Because environmental protection knows neither borders nor countries, we have teamed up with the Torre Guaceto National Park to reach and inspire locals, Berliners and tourists alike to get more involved in the protection of sea turtles through joint initiatives.  â€‹

THE GUARDING TOWER

TORRE GUACETO NATIONAL PARK

Torre Guaceto is a Nature Reserve and Protected Marine area located on the Adriatic Coastline, in the area of Upper Salento, between the cities of Ostuni and Brindisi.

It takes its name from the lookout tower that was part of the system of coastal observation towers built in 1567, which still stands guard over the reserve with its rich flora and fauna.

HELP THE WEAK

'LUIGI CANTORO' SEA TURTLE RECOVERY CENTRE

One of the highlights and a real treasure of the National Park is the 'Luigi Cantoro'

Sea Turtle Recovery Centre, located in Punta Penna Grossa.

The centre's main objective is the protection and conservation of sea turtles, through the rescue, research, care and rehabilitation of specimens found in difficulty.

OUR JOINED INITIATIVES

We actively support through a combination of hands-on involvement and material contributions.

Our efforts include organising educational workshops, coordinating volunteer trips to assist with day-to-day tasks and initiating art projects that raise awareness about marine conservation.

Beyond this, we help meet the centre's operational needs by purchasing essential materials, such as scientific equipment like GPS devices and providing vital medical supplies, including specialized equipment and medications needed for the rehabilitation of injured sea turtles.

ARTISTS UNITED

MURAL ART

Together as a team, 10 artists from Berlin and Apulia will decorate the 450 metre long wall at the entrance to the National Park with their mural art, artistically presenting the park and visitor rules as well as important information.

Are you / Do you know someone, whether an artist or not, who might like the project and would like to support it?

GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY

VOLUNTEERING TRIPS

We organise volunteer trips, especially in the off-season, to support the centre in a variety of ways with our manpower. The participants will actively help and support the daily work with the sea turtles in and around the rescue centre.

Travel with us. Join us as a volunteer. Gain new skills, grow personally, connect with like-minded people, and create a positive impact on the world.

THE DETAILS FOR OUR FIRST TRIP WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON.
